Parents let the internet choose their baby's name - and it's actually lovely
YOU MAY RECALL back in January we told you that one man was going to allow the internet to name his baby daughter. Well, they did – and the name is amazingly lovely.
Canadian software developer Stephen McLaughlin set up a website, NameMyDaughter.com, which allowed people to submit and vote on potential names for his unborn baby girl.
Users were allowed one vote per name, per day – and this name could be anything in the whole wide world.
“Cthulhu Mae” was the second most popular name at one stage, trailing the altogether more normal “Amelia All-Spark” by just a few votes.
Fortunately, the parents reserved the right to choose the final name (so she couldn’t be called “WackyTaco692″, says Stephen) and Amelia Savannah Joy McLaughlin was finally born two weeks ago, on April 7.
She’s not completely out of the nerdy woods though – Amelia is inspired by Doctor Who character Amy Pond. Still, it’s better than Megatron.
